Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the extension of Zain Westbrooke's loan spell with the club until the end of the 2025-26 National League season.
Westbrooke started his career in the Chelsea youth academy before penning his first professional deal with then Championship side Brentford. After seven years with the Bees, the now 29-year-old would enjoy loan spells with Solihull Moors and Leyton Orient before making a permanent move to Coventry City.
In the summer of 2020, the midfielder would make the switch to League One side Bristol Rovers for where he would become a consistent starter, surpassing 50 appearances for the club before being shipped out on loan to Stevenage at the back end of the 2021-22 campaign.
With the Gas promoted back to League One, Westbrooke would make the permanent switch to Doncaster in 2022 with hopes of playing consistent minutes, which he would go on to do featuring 53 times for Rovers under the stewardship of Grant McCann.
Initially joining the Iron in early October to aid the Iron's midfield reinforcements, Westbrooke was made to wait for his chance in the Starting XI, although his first goal for the club against Aldershot Town would cement the creative midfielder's spot in the line-up in the absence of the injured Oli Ewing. Since finding his place in the side, Westbrooke has flourished in recent months, adding a further four goal contributions to his tally in his just twelve appearances in all competitions so far.
