Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm the extension of Leeds United goalkeeper Rory Mahady's youth loan with the club for a further month.
The 19-year-old originally joined the club in October to play in the 3-1 victory over York City, with then on-loan shot stopper Rory Watson ineligible to face his former club. Since extending his loan spell for the first time in November, Mahady has featured in every league game for the Iron, keeping a memorable first professional clean sheet against Yeovil Town and making a heroic penalty save against Braintree Town.
Starting his career in his native Scotland with Celtic, he would be snapped up by the Yorkshire-based side in 2022 and quickly became one of the Whites highly tipped prospects which was reflected in him signing a new three year deal this Summer.
Mahady made 17 appearances in Premier League 2 last season and helped the very Leeds Under-21s side that defeated the Iron earlier in the season, lift the National League Cup in 2024-25. He has previously represented Scotland at U19 level, winning eight caps, and received his first U21 call-up in March.
The latest extension in the loan sees the spell run beyond the festive and New Year period, expiring after the Iron's home league encounter against Sutton United on January 3rd.
