Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new fan engagement initiative ahead of the festive period, in collaboration with Terrace, “Letters to the Players”, giving supporters of all ages the chance to send personal messages, drawings, and well-wishes directly to their favourite Iron players.
From Thursday (November 27th), a dedicated Scunthorpe United postbox supplied by our retail partners, Terrace, as part of their initiative across a number of their partnered football clubs, will be available inside the ticket office and club shop at the Attis Arena, where fans can drop off handwritten letters or cards addressed to members of the first team, coaching staff, or even the squad as a whole in the build-up to Christmas.
The initiative aims to bring fans and players closer together, particularly focusing on our Junior Iron fanbase, celebrating the strong community spirit that has always been at the heart of the football club. Letters will be collected ahead of Christmas and delivered to the dressing room for players to read.
Supporters are encouraged to put a contact email address or postal address on anything posted, with a random selection of letters receiving responses from the players themselves, or from a representative at the club on the player or squad’s behalf.
General Manager James Moody said: “Our supporters play a huge part in driving the team forward, and this initiative, working closely with Terrace, gives fans a direct way to share their encouragement and connect personally with the players.
“We see first hand every week what a connection our players have with our Junior Iron fanbase, with a number of photos and autographs every matchday, and the squad always appreciates the backing they receive. This is our way of connecting you even closer to your heroes that battle for three points for the club week-in, week-out, and I know the lads will really appreciate any letters or cards they receive.”
Fans are encouraged to get creative, whether it's a message of support, a child’s drawing, or a thoughtful letter to a favourite player. Supporters visiting the our ticket office and club shop can find the postbox prominently displayed near our Christmas tree.
