The Iron go back on the road taking a sell out away crowd to promotion pushing York
City, after a comfortable 2-0 victory away at Southend on the weekend.
Alfie Beestin opened the scoring with a half volley from distance to give Scunthorpe the lead in style,
just five minutes into the second half. Iron loanee got his first goal for the club just five
minutes later too, Tyler Sellars-Fleming doubling the lead to bring all three points back
home. Next up is a York side who narrowly missed out on promotion back into the
football league last season, hunting for redemption.
Just one position behind United and three points away, the hosts will be hoping to get back to
winning ways after drawing a tight match last time out, away at Forest Green Rovers. With just
one defeat all season, coming at home against Sollihull Moors, it’s been a strong start to the
season for City and three points against the Iron would bolster their promotion hopes, in this
early stage of the season.
A forward who has been on target this season, and is sure to be a huge threat to Butler’s
defence is striker, Ollie Pearce. Last season, in his debut season for York he was a huge part of
their promotion push scoring 33 goals and assisting 11 from 50 appearances. After an exciting
start to the season statistically again scoring six goals and assisting twice from ten
appearances, the number 10 looks set to be the opponents most major threat, with three goals
in his last two fixtures.
As both sides come into this clash full of confidence, the Iron will be hoping to move six points
clear of York and put pressure on Carlisle and Boreham Wood.
