About

Scunthorpe United welcomed back goalkeeper Maison Campbell on a permanent contract following his departure from National League side York City.

The 20-year-old highly-rated shot stopper joined the Minstermen from Mansfield Town, and arrived at the Attis Arena at the start of December 2023 for a busy festive period as back-up to Ross Fitzsimons.

That loan was extended until the end of the season in January, but the agreement held a 24-hour recall option which was activated in early April by York following an injury to one of their goalkeeping options.

Campbell made two appearances for the Iron in the 2023-24 season, assisting in guiding the side to the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup in wins over Gainsborough Trinity and Cleethorpes Town.

Following the completion of a permanent transfer to United ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, Campbell set featured on a number of occasions in several respective cup competitions across the course of the season, gaining valuble experience in the process. Following the departure of Fitzsimons to Northampton Town at the end of United's promotion winning National League North season, Andy Butler would opt to give Campbell the number one shirt ahead of the 2025-26 National League season.
