About

Scunthorpe United confirmed the signing of centre-back Andrew Boyce following his departure from Eastleigh in June 2022.

He penned a two-year deal to return to the Iron and become first team manager Keith Hill's first signing of the summer.

Signing from Lincoln in 2014, Boyce made 37 appearances for United, including 33 during our 2014-15 League One season, scoring one goal.
While with us, the former Gainsborough man also had loan spells at Grimsby, Hartlepool and Notts County before making a permanent move to the first of those clubs in 2016.
The following year he joined Eastleigh and made 207 appearances in all competitions across five years, scoring nine times, before leaving this summer as he desired to play football nearer to his home in the north.
In his first campaign back with the club, he made a total of 38 league starts, scoring three goals. The strikes came in the opening day 2-1 win over Yeovil Town, while he also netted in 2-1 defeats against Dagenham and Redbridge and Aldershot Town.
Boyce was in fierce competition with his fellow centre-backs in the 2023-24 campaign and finally managed to nail down his position in the squad prior to the seasons end. With the Iron playing a three in defence system this time around Boyce was handed a new contract by Andy Butler ahead of the 2024-25 season and is expected to feature heavily in defence.

Following a consistent 2024-25 season that saw the central defender make 40 appearances during the Iron's National League Promotion campaign, Boyce's contribution to United's triumph earned him a further one-year contract extension with the club that saw him continue his stay until the end of the 2025-26 National League season.
