Next up is another home clash against an in-form Altrincham side, looking to climb out of the bottom half of the table.

The Iron failed to build on their emphatic away victory against Yeovil Town, as they fell
short in a 2-1 defeat against Sutton United. Osman Foyo opened the scoring for the
visitors, but it took under two minutes for Scunthorpe to strike level, Danny Whitehall
netting from close range. In the 95th minute, the Iron suffered a late goal from Brandon
Njoku to steal all three points at the Attis Arena.

In the reverse fixture, Scunthorpe were defeated away to Altrincham. Carlton Ubaezuonu
opened the scoring before Tom Crawford equalised for the hosts. Alfie Beestin put Scunthorpe
into the lead by a goal just before the hour mark, but the late drama stunned Iron fans. Matthew
Kosylo equalised to draw level at 2-2 in the 88th minute. Oliver Crankshaw got a late winner in
the 90+1st minute, before bagging his second to complete a brace and kill the match.

After beating Scunthorpe, Altrincham went 11 games without netting the team, nine losses, two
draws, and one draw. Since getting back to winning ways against Wealdstone, the side visiting
the Attis Arena has gone five games with only one loss, four wins, and one loss. The Lancashire
club have just one less in their last five and hit form as Dec Howe came back from Scunthorpe.
Howe’s first start was getting Altrincham back to winning ways, and he has scored three goals
and got one assist in his six appearances for the Robins.

As Howe is out on loan from the Iron, therefore ineligible, Altrincham have two dangerous
forwards, who can fill the gap, Jimmy Knowles and Oliver Crankshaw. Knowles has been a solid
winger for his side with nine goals and five assists, as he looks to get into double figures against
United. Crankshaw got the winner in the reverse fixture, and killed off the match when he scored
his second. After making such a huge impact last time he faced Scunthorpe, he should be
watched closely, as United know all about his quality.
As the Iron look to bounce back from a late defeat, and Altrincham have a chance to make it five
wins from six, Andy Butler’s side will be looking to use the home crowd to their advantage and
inspire an important victory.
