The Iron are back in action, looking to bounce back after a heavy 3-0 defeat on the road
against Solihull Moors. Next up is a clash against relegation candidates Braintree Town,
at the Attis Arena.
The visitors currently sit 21st in the table occupying a relegation spot in the table, with just 16
points from 19 games, level on points with Sutton outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
After going seven games winless, six losses and one draw, Town got back to winning ways on
the weekend defeating Truro City at home 2-0. After picking up the valuable three points against
a relegation rival, gaffer Steve Pitt will be hopeful his side can go to Scunthorpe full of
confidence and pick up a huge result. Only Truro have picked up less points on the road than
Braintree, our opponents have picked up just four points from their nine away encounters, one
win and a draw, they have not picked up a point away from home since September.
A Braintree player who has shown their importance to the side this season is young talent,
Terrell Works. Works, aged just 20, is a talented prospect on loan from Fulham and is Town’s
top scorer this season. With five goals in all competitions from 13 games, no Braintree player
has scored more. Terrell has put up some good numbers in the Fulham academy, his best
numbers being netting 15 and assisting six in the U18’s in the 2022/23 season.
As United look to rejuvenate their form, this home clash against Braintree is a good opportunity
to make up ground on promotion rivals after missing out on points last week. Scunthorpe are
just two points off 5th place and three points behind 4th place York. As we look to continue
strong home form Andy Butler’s side will be determined to get back to winning ways.
