Scunthorpe United is aware of a number of supporters who are seeing "Mansfield Town" coming up on their bank statement as their contribution and entry to the Iron Super Draw.
We have sought clarity from the providers of the lottery, who have confirmed that if supporters have purchased their entries through the Iron Super Draw page, all entries remain with Scunthorpe United irrespective of the club it states on your bank statement.
Our Club Lotto commented: "This issue tends to arise with some of the newer banks like Monzo and Revolut. These banks often try to display a “friendly” name for pending transactions by using their own logic to guess who the merchant is, rather than using the exact name we provide.
"This only affects pending transactions. Once the payment clears, the correct name will appear on their final statement. In most cases, customers can also see the correct club name if they tap into the transaction details. Printed or downloadable bank statements will always show the correct club name, as they exclude pending items.
"Our Club Lotto do display a warning to customers at checkout to let them know that their bank may initially display the incorrect club but it will rectify when the money is taken from the account.
"Supporter can report the issue to their bank. There is usually something within the app where you can flag incorrectly named transactions. Doing so usually updates the record for that individual, and if enough customers do the same, the bank will update the merchant mapping for all users of that banking brand.
"We can reassure fans that their payment is still going directly to the club, even if the name looks incorrect temporarily. All payments are linked to the specific Scunthorpe United product on our system so there's no way for confusion at our end."
