Scunthorpe United will travel to face Alfreton Town on Tuesday, July 15th (7.30pm kick-off) as part of their pre-season preparations.

Billy Heath's side has proved to be stern opposition for the Iron over the past two seasons in the Vanarama National League North, with a direct approach which has tested United's resolve in a quartet of recent fixtures.

The most recent meeting came at the Impact Arena in March when Carlton Ubaezuonu and Kian Scales both netted in a memorable and pivotal 2-0 away win, while the reverse fixture at the Attis Arena was a stale and uneventful goalless draw.

Back in 2023-24, the draw came in Derbyshire when Scales was dismissed after four minutes, giving the Iron a mammoth task, but Scunthorpe twice led through Danny Whitehall and Danny Elliott, but were pegged back on both occasions.

In contrast, the encounter on home soil ended in a 1-0 win, with Will Evans netting a last minute winner.

Prior to that match, the two sides met in the FA Cup in November 2008, which resulted in a 4-0 win for Scunthorpe; Ben May, Gary Hooper (two) and Sam Togwell scoring on the day.
