Coming off the back of winning three consecutive games in just seven days, the Iron have had to spend some time away from the pitch, having not played in just over a week, but return to action back on the road to face Warrington Town in a clash where they look to get all three points.

Last time out, Scunthorpe faced a hungry Needham Market side looking to upset the home crowd after winning in late fashion away against Alfreton just three days prior. It took just four minutes for United to break the deadlock, Kian Scales getting the opener, before a red card in the 70th minute for the visitors courtesy of Luke Ingram. Cal Roberts sealed the points with a goal just eight minutes before injury time.

On the road, Scunthorpe have won just seven of their 14 away matches this season. The last victory on the road came on Boxing Day against Peterborough Sports, against a struggling Warrington side, the Iron will be looking to get their first away win of the year at a ground where it’s not too easy to get all three points.

Town have claimed most of their points on home turf with 60% of their points this season being claimed at Cantilever Park, the fixture will certainly be no push over for Scunthorpe, as they face an opposition who will be hungry to get back to winning ways in front of their faithful.

Despite their decent home form, Warrington come into this game the complete opposite to the Iron. With their last win coming last year on the 21st December 2024, a turn in form is pivotal for the hosts as they haven’t won in their last six, with five losses and one draw. In this run of games, they have scored just two goals and have struggled to challenge their opposition offensively, as well as this form the Wire recently lost a key attacker for their side too. Connor Woods left Warrington for Chester in the January transfer window, Woods had netted five goals and assisted two. The 27 year old centre forward was the top scorer and his presence has been a clear miss. Despite the loss of the 27 year old striker, Town still have a couple of key players who have the quality to hurt the Iron.

Club captain and number nine, Josh Amis has been an integral part of The Wire’s squad, Amis has bagged five goals this season from a total of 16 appearances made. The 30 year old will be looking to get back on the scoresheet and this would be a fantastic fixture for the centre forward to get back to goal scoring ways.

Another player who has the ability to cause some problems for Scunthorpe is 22 year old midfielder, Matthew McDonald. The man who wears the number 10 has been involved in five goals this season having scored three and assisted two, he will be looking to add to his tally on Saturday and will be a man to watch out for. After three wins from three games in just seven days, Scunthorpe haven’t kicked a ball in just under a fortnight. The Iron do however look to be back in form just before another three games in seven days, starting with a trip to Warrington, and then two home games at the Attis Arena.
