Last week, the Iron made their annual visit to the Disney Ward of Scunthorpe General Hospital, in partnership with the Iron Foundation, continuing a long-standing tradition at both the club and in the footballing world.
A party of five Scunthorpe United players, accompanied by staff from the club and the Iron Foundation, made the trip to the hospital to visit the children who are currently on the ward, handing out Scunthorpe United merchandise-filled Christmas stockings, including a ticket voucher to select game of their choice to look forward to when they are feeling well enough. For many of the children and their families, the gesture brought a lift in spirits and a brief welcome distraction during a difficult time.
The Iron have been big supporters of the Health Tree Foundation over the years, with the squad donating funds each year following a whip round, with the figure supplemented by the Iron Foundation.
