The Iron are back in action looking to bounce back after a narrow 1-0 away defeat against Scarborough Athletic.
The fixture is another away match, in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round, as the Iron take on Northern Premier League side Guiseley.
In the last round of the FA Cup, United were put to the test by Newcastle Town as the hosts halted Scunthorpe to a replay, in which the Iron then won comfortably in front of home fans at the Attis Arena. Andy Butler's side will be hoping to prevent the tie from going to a replay this time.
Guiseley have gone two games without a victory in the league, but have started the season off strongly. A key player for the Lions opponents is 25-year-old striker William Longbottom, who is in red hot form. Longbottom has netted five league goals in the opening 10 games, and is looking at getting his side back to winning ways after missing a penalty last time out.
Another key asset for the Lions is Barnsley loanee Leo Farrell. The young forward is Guiseley’s top scorer and player to watch out for with six goals to his name this season, making a massive impact since joining on loan from the Tykes this summer. The attacking duo of Longbottom and Farrell will be a task for the Scunthorpe defence to deal with.
As the Iron look to get through another round in the FA Cup and prolong their journey in the competition, any potential upsets will want to be avoided.
