Ahead of the kit launch video being released this evening, co-owner and chair Michelle Harness details the effort and commitment gone into the production of what is about to premiere…
On behalf of the Board, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the level of effort, commitment and determination to achieve what has been produced for our kit launch. The project was started months ago, and has been hours, days, weeks and months in the making. At the club, we all recognise the sheer volume of graft that has gone into this fantastic pieces of work.
Alongside combatting the season, the tireless effort from our media team of James Moody and Jake Pullan, liaising and working with the superbly talented local content producers Pete Hewes and Mitchell Blades of Know Film, and Aaron Cheeseman, has resulted in a production that will really symbolise our milestone year.
The proposal started as a mere concept soon after we took ownership of the club. Both Aaron and Pete approached James and I, and everyone was in agreement with how to proceed. It was clear to see in our early Board meetings how passionate James was to place a marker on this season, and ensure Scunthorpe United has a 125th year to be proud of and celebrate. That started with a proposal to change the badge for a season, and has blossomed even further since.
Having seen the plans throughout the process, and seeing all of the former faces returning to the stadium to take part, it has been humbling to see how many legends of this club wanted to return to show their support - as you will see in the initial video, and then an extended one which will be produced in the weeks that follow.
We wanted something that was special for this season, we wanted something to symbolise the unity that we’ve created, and to epitomise the support we’ve had throughout this journey so far. Everyone that’s been involved in this have definitely achieved that and more.
This evening, following a lot of filming, travelling, editing and dedication, we will unveil our home kit for the 2024-25 - the first of three kit launch videos we publish over the coming weeks. Each has taken time, thought and immense effort to produce, and all are something this club has not done in its history before.
Aaron, Pete and Mitchell are all very busy with their schedules, and although they will agree that it’s probably their most enjoyable project they’ve embarked on, in doing so they’ve cast work aside to put us first in many cases, and done this to be part of this historic season. For this, we are eternally thankful.
We’d also like to thank Adam Press for his work in creating an amazing version of a song we all know well, which acts as backing music to the video, and also 20-21 Visual Arts Centre and UK Restoration for their fantastic support in making their venue welcoming for a crucial part of the launch video.
Everyone involved in this project bleeds claret and blue, and we hope you as the supporters love it as much as we do, and take time to absorb the whole video, and just how much work has gone into it.
Up the Iron!
Michelle
