Preview: Blyth Spartans (A)

6 February 2024

United travel to Blyth Spartans on Tuesday, February 6th on what is the third allocated date for the fixture following two previous postponements.

The Iron are back in action just three days after a two-goal triumph over Rushall Olympic, scoring twice in stoppage time, with goals from Danny Elliot then Dion Sembie-Ferris sealing the victory.

The game is one of Scunthorpe's two games in hand against Tamworth who currently sit top of the table 10 points above.

IRON TEAM NEWS

United will be without defender Tyler Denton, who sits out through suspension following his red card against Tamworth a week ago.

Jason Law continues to miss out due to a toe injury, while Jacob Butterfield is rated 50-50 following illness over the course of the weekend.

Callum Roberts is out for four-to-six weeks with a hamstring injury.

THE OPPOSITION

Blyth Spartans sit mid-table, currently 13th in the league and are in need of a win if they have any aspirations of a play off push, towards the end of the season.

The fixture at Croft Park is set to be the first encounter between the two sides.

Blyth have scored 48 goals this season in the league - only five teams have scored more goals than them in the division, despite this impressive stat their defence lets their goal difference down as they have conceded 47 goals leaving them with a +1 goal difference.
