Park and walk to avoid delays this weekend

25 April 2024

Scunthorpe United is urging supporters to park in the town centre and walk to the Attis Arena this weekend to avoid congestion in the area of the stadium, as a result of the closure on the motorway.

In conjunction with North Lincolnshire Council, we are advising supporters, where possible, to make use of FREE parking within the town centre and to make alternative provision to arrive at the stadium to alleviate pressure on the road closures in the area, either on foot, or by using public transport.

A full map of the free parking sites are below, and can also be viewed by clicking here. All of these car parks do not require a ticket to be validated on a Saturday, and can be parked in all day without charge.

John Leggott College have also kindly allowed parking on their car park on West Common Lane, which will be open from 12noon.

Supporters are asked to be mindful of residents and parking restrictions when street parking around the town, instead of using public car parks.

Supporters who are intending to park at the Attis Arena, are asked to arrive as early as possible to avoid any congestion and delays in getting to the stadium as a result of the closures around the area.

National Highways are continuing their essential repairs on the M180 Mutton Lane Bridge (near Outmill) this weekend. This will require a full closure of the M180 in both directions between Junctions 2 and 3, starting at 8pm on Friday, April 26 and continuing through the weekend until Monday, April 29 at 6am.

Recent closures of the road have lead to massive tailbacks on the M181 and the A15 into Gunness and Keadby, with supporters reminded to give a lot of extra time to make their journey.

The following signed diversions will be in place:

  • Derrythorpe Road - go via West Butterwick using Clouds Lane, West Street and North Street in both directions.
  • M180 eastbound - leave Woodhouse junction 2, onto the A161, A18 until junction with M181 (retail park) then M181 re-joining the M180 at junction 3 eastbound.
  • M180 westbound - leave M180 junction 3 north onto the M181 until retail park junction with the A18, west onto A18 onto the junction with the A161, then south to re-join the M180 at junction 2.
