Goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons gives insight on how he’s found his first two weeks at the Iron as he prepares for Saturdays match against Brigg Town.
“I was sold on the project and the ambitions of the club. Obviously the club hasn't been in the best condition recently but hopefully now we can help the club progress back to the promise land of the football league.
When asked what his both personal goals and what the teams’ goals were for the coming season he continued: “The aim for me personally is to play as many games as I can and as a team’s it’s to win the division. It's quite obvious we are the biggest team in this league and hopefully we can get straight back to the National league.
“Pre-season has been really good. It’s an incredible set up here in terms of day-to-day training and the standard is really good from both the lads that have come in and the lads that were already here last season, so it’s been brilliant, and I’ve enjoyed every minute so far.
After being questioned on the vast competition for places in the starting XI next term he said: “I think there’s very good competition for places in this squad and I think me and Chappers (Aaron Chapman) are both very capable of playing at this level and we can both bring different qualities. It’s just one of them decisions which depends on who the opposition is.
“I’m excited to put the shirt on for the first time. It was really exciting for me when I signed here and I’ve been looking forward to getting started ever since.”
