Bromley match and matchball sponsors: Scunthorpe Samaritans

27 January 2023

We are delighted to welcome Scunthorpe Samaritans as both our match sponsor and matchball sponsor for this Saturday's game against Bromley.

Scunthorpe Samaritans has been part of Scunthorpe for 60 years and they are run by local volunteers caring for and supporting local people.

Scunthorpe Samaritans have had a long-standing relationship with the club and understand how important it is to the people of Scunthorpe. They have regularly used some of the funds raised locally to sponsor games and signs to raise awareness and get the message to as many people as possible, that they are available round the clock for anyone who needs support.

• Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help.
• We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
• Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.
• We give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.
• We offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.
• In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.
• Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
• That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.

Scunthorpe Samaritans offer a unique service. You don't have to make an appointment if you need support and someone to talk to. They're available 24/7 365 days a year and can contact them by phone or email. Call 116123 free from any phone or jo@samaritans.org.

VOLUNTEER WITH THEM

Their volunteers are ordinary people, they come from all walks of life, and are aged from 18 upwards; but they have one thing in common: - they all have a little time to spare for others and will give that time freely and willingly. They are all highly trained and are well supported by fellow volunteers. Their volunteers get a special sense of achievement because they are in direct contact with the person needing their support at that time.

Most people have it in them to be a Samaritan – could you be there, for someone who needs to talk, when things are tough? You can find out more by attending one of their information sessions – look on their website for details (http://www.samaritans.org/branches/scunthorpe-samaritans).
