The Iron midfielder started by talking about the prospect of gaining three important points on the road, saying: “Saturday wasn’t our best performance and we know that. We want to put it right and what better team to do it against than the one below us. It’s a massive game and we need to be coming away with three points to try and get ourselves out of the bottom four.”
He continued to talk about the team bouncing back from the weekend's defeat, with the next game coming only three days later. He said: “That’s the best thing about it. Playing against a team who's near us gives us the chance to go three more points clear of them.”
The trip to Kent is followed by two home games, and Alfie looking forward to the team's return to Glanford Park: “I feel like we’ve been playing some really nice football at home. You could see how positive it was after the Dagenham game. The fans were unbelievable and they always give us that extra boost when we play at home.”
He added: “The fans give us that belief and I do feel we play our best at home. We need to start performing away as well though.”
The Iron have undergone some serious change in recent weeks, but despite this, Alfie has managed to retain his spot in the team. He said: “I think good competition helps because I know it pushes me to do better. The gaffer has shown belief in me and played me out wide which I like. He’s started me in every game since he’s been here so I appreciate that.”
Finally, the midfielder spoke about his personal goals for the rest of the season: “I need to get more goals and the gaffer has got that into me. He believes that I’ve got everything on the football pitch but I need more goals. I want to help the team stay up.”
