Summer signing Tyler Denton reflects on the Irons 4-0 win over Darlington, as he describes what it was like under the lights of Glanford park on Tuesday night.
When asked on his thoughts to the outstanding performance he replied: “It was a perfect night and it’s what we’ve thought about since the start of pre-season.
"We aim to go into every game and keep a clean sheet, to score goals and to entertain and I think we’ve done that."
Next, he had this to say regarding goal scorer Danny Whitehall’s stand out performance in front of the Scunthorpe faithful: “Danny’s got a lot of quality, and he shows it day-in day-out in training. Saturday just was one of those days for him, but he showed the right attitude to bounce back and score two good goals on Tuesday.
Manager Jimmy Dean stuck with the same team for Tuesday’s fixture that drew 1-1 with Peterborough Sports on Saturday and Denton said this in response to the Deans faith in the squad: “We know it was a good performance but just because we kept our place in the starting XI it doesn’t mean that the lads behind us aren’t banging on the door to get into the squad.
"We know we still have to perform day-in day-out because there are players that are always ready to take our places."
When questioned on how much he’s enjoying life in claret and blue so far, since his arrival from King's Lynn Town in the summer, he stated “It’s a great group of lads and the manager sold the club to me in the summer, its looking good so far but we still need to take it one game at a time and keep going.
“It’s no secret that the club has been on a bit of a downfall but that’s all gone now and all we can do is keep looking up and keep putting in good performances like we have done tonight for the fans.
"It’s a big thing being top of the league and it’s great for the fans being able to say that but there’s only three games gone, and we’ve still got a long season ahead of us with some tough games I’m sure.”
