The Iron’s Under-18s were victorious away from home at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex on Saturday morning, winning 1-0 against Huddersfield Town in the EFL Youth Alliance League.

Striker Harrison Poulter netted the winner in the 38th minute, as the Iron returned to action following their 2-1 defeat away at Barnsley in the FA Youth Cup.

Poulter caught ‘keeper Sam Taylor out with a press which resultantly saw the attacker brought down in the box.

With a penalty given, Poulter stepped up to convert the spot-kick he’d won and subsequently win the game for the Iron.

Talking following the match, Professional Development Phase Coach Rob Watson said: “It was a tough game.

“We’ve come into it off the loss of the FA Youth Cup, but it was the first time in a while where we’ve had a Saturday-to-Saturday gap to prepare for it.

“We setup not to get beat. It was more of an out-of-possession game where we defended our box well and it was a good performance.

“Ty (Sellars-Fleming) and Harrison (Poulter) had a number of chances through the counter-attack, Harrison hitting the post in the first half and Ty had a number of chances, with (Charlie) Burden-Whittleton coming close too.

“To keep a clean sheet and get three points – I couldn’t ask for any more from the lads.
