Ollie Yates is the man in the middle for the Iron's final game of the 2020-21 season at home to Stevenage this Saturday.
The Staffordshire-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 32nd game of the campaign and 12th in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is his fifth in the EFL.
His first game of the campaign was a goalless draw in the Carabao Cup between Derby County and Barrow. The Rams won 3-2 on penalties and he issued two cautions. His latest game in the middle came on Friday, April 30th when he oversaw the nine-goal thriller between Harrogate Town and Cambridge United which ended 5-4 to the Sulphurites. Three cautions were issued on the night.
Despite being in the EFL for almost five seasons, Yates has taken charge of just two previous Scunthope games, with the first coming over two years ago. United won on New Year's Day in 2019 at Peterborough United, with seven yellow cards issued, five of which to the Iron (Jak Alnwick, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, James Perch, Lee Novak and Kyle Wootton). Meanwhile, his latest encounter was much more recent, taking charge of the 3-0 home win over Grimsby Town earlier this year. Alex Gilliead and Ryan Loft were among the three yellow cards on that day.
He has taken charge of seven Stevenage fixtures to date, three of which coincidentally coming against Exeter City. His last game came in September last year, while his first was back in September 2016. Across the seven games, he's issued 23 yellow cards and two reds.
Last season, he took charge of 30 games, issuing 105 yellow cards and seven reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 31 encounters, showing 101 yellows and three red cards.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Simon Clayton and Kenwyn Hughes, while Billy Smallwood has been appointed as the fourth official.
