It was Ryan Loft that opened the scoring in the early stages of the first half, but Ouss Cisse scored a leveller later on in the opening period.
Speaking to iFollow Iron, he said: “I think it was a battling type of performance. I thought they passed the ball really well in the first half. I’m disappointed with the set-play (from which Cisse scored his equalising header). They had loads of possession and looked like they were going to score (in the first-half). We were poor from set-plays, then we changed it just before half-time and looked to pass it a little better. The decisions just didn’t go for us in the end."
Cox added: “We’ve had ten penalties against us this year and two sendings off. We’ve been given two penalties and not had anybody sent off against us. I feel as if that aspect has gone against us this season and looking at it today and the decision regarding the challenge on Kev (van Veen) not to get a penalty, it’s just harsh on us at the minute."
Reacting to Ryan Loft’s early goal, and ninth of the season, he said: “We had good build up, and it was a quality ball into the box by Kev and Lofty took it well. It was a good start for us away from home."
Jordan Hallam came off early on in the game, and Cox explained it was tactical. He commented: “We had to change it, obviously it’s difficult for Jordan. We went to try and play a diamond in there, but they had more possession, were over-running us in midfield and kept it very well at times. Our full-backs didn’t get forward enough, so I had to make a decision. I had to apologise to him, but there is nothing I can do, it’s about the team not individuals.
“He’ll get loads of opportunities (in time), but we’re trying to look after him as he has had a lot of injuries, so we are not going overdo him. It’s a decision as a manager I have to take. Rightly or wrongly, we came here to get three points, but came out with one.”
The boss added that centre-back Harrison McGahey "won't be fit for a few weeks now", with the thigh problem that's ruled him out since coming off during half-time of last week's draw at Salford City.
