Chris Sarginson will now take charge of the Iron at Barrow on Saturday following James Adcock's withdrawal from the game.
The Staffordshire-based official arrives at the Progression Solicitors Stadium for his 19th game of the campaign and his ninth in Sky Bet League Two.
His first game of the campaign was Bristol City's 2-0 win over Exeter City in Round One of the Carabao Cup. He issued two cautions on the day. Meanwhile, his latest match saw him oversee Lincoln City's progression in the Papa John's Trophy in midweek, as they saw off Accrington Stanley 4-0. He showed two yellow cards.
He's taken charge of the Iron on 17 occasions in 13 years, most recently the home defeat to Cambridge United back in October where he awarded two penalties against Scunthorpe and sent off Myles Hippolyte for two quick cautions. The last time on the road was back in September 2018 when he oversaw Stuart McCall's first game in charge of United. Meanwhile, three of those 16 games have been United versus Charlton Athletic. In total, he's shown 39 yellow cards and five reds in Scunthorpe United fixtures.
Meanwhile, with Barrow only returning to the EFL following a near-40-year absence, he's only officiated the Bluebirds once. That came back in November at the Progression Solicitors Stadium in a 2-2 draw against Forest Green Rovers with three cautions shown.
In 2018-19, he took charge of 44 games, issuing 138 yellow cards and eight reds, while in 2019-20 he took charge of 28 games with 74 yellow cards and one red. So far this season, in 18 games, he's shown 46 yellow cards and one red.
On Saturday, Sarginson will be assisted by Geoffrey Liddle and Alan Clayton, while Ross Joyce has been appointed as the fourth official.
