In what is Edwards' second EFL campaign as a referee, the Tyne and Wear-based official will travel to the Utilita Energy Stadium for his 31st game of the season following his promotion to the National List of Referees ahead of the 2019-20 season.

He has experience in the EFL prior to this season though, first starting as an assistant referee before opting to drop back down to the National League with the whistle, where he remained for two years before being promoted back.

He took charge of United's slender defeat against Walsall back in September 2019, showing three yellow cards, while he refereed the 3-1 defeat at Crewe three months later, issuing four cautions. He was appointed to the game between the Iron and Oldham Athletic earlier in the season, but that game fell victim to the weather. Across both games he has refereed, seven cautions have been shown.

The official has refereed just one Bantams clash in the past. That came earlier in the season when they beat Southend United 3-0 on home soil. Five yellow cards were shown on the day.

Edwards has currently taken charge of 30 matches so far this season, with his first between Barnsley and Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup with two cautions issued on the night. His last game in the middle was last weekend as he oversaw Tranmere's win over Barrow. Four cautions were added to his season tally.

Last season, in his debut EFL campaign, he refereed 25 games, showing 62 yellow cards and one red, ending the memorable year with a League Two play-off semi-final match. So far this season, in the 30 matches he has refereed, he has shown 100 yellow cards and one red.

On Saturday, Marc will be assisted by Barry Gordon and Graeme Fyvie, while Ross Joyce will assume the role of fourth official.
