Martin Coy will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.
The County Durham-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his ninth game of the campaign and his fourth in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is his fourth in the EFL as the man in the middle.
His first game of the campaign involved the Trotters as he oversaw their Carabao Cup exit against Bradford City at the University of Bolton Stadium. He issued one yellow card. Meanwhile, his latest game in the middle was on November 14th as Harrogate Town and Crawley Town shared a 1-1 draw with two cautions shown. He was fourth official in the League One game between Rochdale and AFC Wimbledon at the weekend.
He's taken charge of the Iron on five previous occasions, the most recent on Good Friday in 2019 when the side drew 0-0 with Blackpool. No cards were issued. All five of his previous matches involving Scunthorpe have come at the Sands Venue Stadium, so Tuesday will be his sixth trip. In 2017-18, he oversaw four United games, but didn't referee the side last season. In total, across the five games, he's shown 11 yellow cards and one red.
Up until Tuesday, he's refereed Bolton on two previous occasions, with both against Bradford City on home soil. Both have come in cup competitions, with the Trotters losing in the League Cup and losing on penalties in the EFL Trophy. He's shown seven yellow cards across the two games.
Last season, he took charge of 27 games, issuing 78 yellow cards and four reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in eight encounters, showing 23 yellows and two reds.
On Tuesday, Coy will be assisted by Paul Graham and Oliver Bickle, while Garreth Rhodes has been appointed as the fourth official.
