We look back through our featured Junior Iron Club members this season, with each selected participant answering questions for the matchday programme before getting an opportunity to interview an Iron player.
Owen was our ninth member to get the chance to take part, with the then-eight-year-old featured in the new-look Junior Iron Mini Mag for our younger supporters. He also got the opportunity to interview on-loan midfielder Regan Slater, asking him his choice of questions.
This interview was featured in our programme when we faced Stevenage back in November.
Here's his interview, plus Regan's answers...
What's been the best part of being a JIC member? The best thing about being part of the Junior Iron Club is being entered into all of the competitions.
How long have you been supporting the Iron? I have supported the Iron since I was four-years-old.
Tell us about your first game. My first game was against Chesterfield and I got to take a picture with Alex Davey.
Tell us about your favourite game. My favourite game was Wycombe away last season when I won the Junior Iron competition and got to be mascot and go around their stadium.
Who is your favourite Scunthorpe United player of all time? Conor Townsend.
Who is your favourite current Scunthorpe United player? Yann Songo’o.
Who do you come to games with? I come to games with my mum, dad and brother mainly.
Do you play football and if so, who for and what position do you play? I’m captain for Bottesford Town Allstars Under-9s. I mainly play in defence or midfield.
Owen interviews Regan Slater…
How old was you when you started to play football professionally? I was 17 when I first signed my professional contract.
How do you prepare for a game? I like to get up early, shower and have a good breakfast.
How many hours a week do you train? We train for around two hours on the days we are in. If it’s just the games on a Saturday, we are in on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
If you could play football with anyone who would it be and why? It would have to be Lionel Messi as I believe he’s the GOAT (greatest of all time).
Do you have a special routine for game day? I don’t have a routine as such, but I always like to get changed as late as possible.
