FIFA Ultimate Quaran-Team: Preview: Iron v Charlton Athletic

22 March 2020

The Iron take on Championship side Charlton Athletic in the Round of 128 in the FIFA Ultimate Quaran-Team tournament, organised by Leyton Orient.

If you’re not yet up to date on social media, the announcement of the Ultimate Quaran-Team tournament has taken Twitter by storm, with 128 teams across the globe getting involved in the FIFA challenge.

The initiative is one borne out of the desire to bring clubs together during a time of unprecedented measures surrounding COVID-19, and so far has been a great success.

The Iron, who were among the opening teams to put themselves down for the challenge, were the 43rd tie to be drawn out, with the mission of hosting Championship side Charlton Athletic.

You can stream the match LIVE on our Twitch channel, by clicking here.

The match between our Addicks counterparts is scheduled to get underway at around 7pm GMT on Sunday, March 22nd for a place in the last-64 of the competition. Both players will be taking part in an online friendly and will play at 85 rating, meaning there is a level playing field for both gamers.

Scunthorpe-born Mark Love will be representing the Iron with each match lasting a total of 12 minutes of game time.

DONATE

Please visit the Just Giving page to donate.

We are thankful to everyone who has already been so kind during this difficult period. Your money will help to raise vital funding for EFL clubs who are going to have massive financial struggles (as of course will many industries across the world) during this time of fixture postponement. With no match day income for the foreseeable future football clubs are struggling and things will only get worse.

If this cause can play a small way for clubs going during an unprecedented time, then it would be an amazing force for good. 75% of money raised will be given to the EFL within 28 days.

Secondly, the remaining 25% will be split between for two very worthy causes. One is the EFL’s chosen charity ‘MIND’ (219830), and secondly in funding the all-important COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fundraiser by WHO.
