Hornshaw signs new Iron contract

9 July 2020

Midfielder George Hornshaw has signed a new one-year contract with the Iron.

The 20-year-old graduated from our academy in 2018, penning his first professional contract.

He made his professional debut for the Iron in the 2017-18 campaign, starting in the Checkatrade Trophy clash against a Leicester City U21s side including a wealth of Premier League experience. He also won the man of the match award.

2018-19 saw a further appearance in the competition against Wolves U21s for the combative midfielder, and loan moves to Farsley Celtic and Gainsborough Trinity.

A regular for the Iron’s Under-23s last season, where he figured in midfield and at right-back, he was also on the bench for the first team occasionally and came on as a substitute in the victory against Grimsby Town in the Leasing.com Trophy.
