Paul Marsden will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league encounter against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
The Lancashire-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 20th game of the campaign and his ninth in Sky Bet League Two.
His first game of the campaign saw him officiate in Oldham Athletic's 3-2 home win over Liverpool Under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy back on August 7th. He showed three cautions on the night. Meanwhile, his last encounter in the middle came last Sunday when he took charge of the goalless draw between Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers, showing six yellow cards.
He's refereed the Iron on three past occasions. When he first refereed United last season at the Sands Venue Stadium, it was his first-ever League One clash. Scunthorpe drew 3-3 with Oxford United in that fixture, coming from 3-0 down. He showed a total of eight yellow cards that day, three of which going to Iron players. The most recent fixture involving Marsden came earlier this season when the side drew 1-1 against Leicester City Under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy. In total, he's shown 10 yellow cards and each of the three games have ended as a draw.
Despite officiating in the EFL for one-and-a-half seasons now, Marsden is yet to take charge of a game involving the Pilgrims, so Saturday will be the first.
In 2018-19, he took charge of 34 games in the National League, issuing 93 yellow cards and 10 reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 19 encounters, showing 66 yellows and one red.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Richard Bartlett and Simon Clayton, while David Plowright has been appointed as the fourth official.
