The Tigers kicked off the first half, but the Iron gained possession, force a mistake and won a corner.
Moments later, Jai Rowe won a header on the halfway mark. Ryan Colclough picked up the ball and found Aaron Jarvis over the top. He clipped the ball to the edge of the area, but Hull cleared it.
Six minutes in, Colclough and Jarvis worked together to send a deep cross to Abo Eisa. He headed the ball back across with George Hornshaw and Eisa pressing to win a throw.
Kelsey Mooney got his first goal for the Iron just a minute later. He made a brilliant run to connect with Eisa’s left-wing cross to fire the ball into the back of the net.
On ten minutes, Emmanuel Onariase rose highest to head away a left-winged cross from Hull as they came forward for the first time in the match.
Three minutes later, the neat build-up play continued from the Iron. Mooney fed onto a through ball and held onto the possession before Alex Gilliead spreaded the play to Eisa on the left. The powerful cross evaded Mooney's run.
It was a close call for the Iron on the 16th minute when the ball bounced off the post. Jacob Bedeau picked up the ball and drove it forward, interchanging on the left side with Eisa before cutting onto his right foot and angled across the goal off the upright.
On 19 minutes, Gilliead dispossessed the ball on the halfway mark before Mooney found Eisa. He was closely marshalled before the defender slid in.
With 29 minutes gone, Gilliead intercepted and threaded Jarvis in down the right. He was brought down for a free-kick, which was fired into Eisa before he turned away and that a left-footed efforted was blocked.
On the 30 minute mark, a pre-planned drink break saw a pre-scheduled alteration made, as Emmanuel Onariase came off for John McAtee.
Three minutes after, Colclough cut onto his left foot and took a shot from range. From this a light deflection was made and the ball went out for a corner.
The corner went deep towards Mooney who rose alongside a defender with the ball and nodded out of play for a goal kick.
35 minutes into the match, the Tigers equalised, firing the ball into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.
On 37 minutes, Eisa sent in a free-kick with Bedeau shrugging off his marker to get a glance of the ball, but not enough to drive it on target.
Two minutes later, Mooney was brought down 35-yards from the goal, in the middle of two challenges. The ball was worked down the left side with Colclough feeding it into the box.
On 47 minutes, Adam Kelsey dealt with an in-swinging free-kick into the Iron area, but the rebound was turned behind for a corner. Kelsey punched the ball clear.
Moments later, Colclough picked out the run of Jordan Hallam from the halfway line to the edge of the box. Hallam controlled the ball before it was turned behind for a corner.
In the 51st minute, Tom Pugh and McAtee worked together down the right to find Alfie Beestin on the edge of the box. He took one touch before his left-footed effort landed into the palms of the keeper.
Four minutes later, Colclough restored the Iron's lead. He took his first touch onto his left foot following a low ball from the left coming before a side-stepping defender and firing the ball with power into the net.
With 60 minutes gone, the Iron made more substitutions. Jacob Bedeau, Ryan Colclough, Abo Eisa, Lewis Butroid and Jai Rowe came off for Devarn Green, Olufela Olomola, Charlie Barks, Fin Shrimpton and Mason O’Malley.
On 65 minutes, Green attacked down the right before cutting to Kevin van Veen. The ball then landed with Pugh on the right before the cross was cleared.
Four minutes after, a brilliant build-up from the Iron saw Green interchange before O’Malley was fed down the left flank. The ball was fired into the box which met van Veen, but his header was off target.
75 minutes in, McAtee tried to steer the keeper from the edge of the box, but the ball cleared the bar.
Just two minutes later, Barks threw himself in front of a goalbound shot to block, but the offside flag was up.
On the 82-minute mark, Hull crossed in from the right. The forward won the header, but the ball fell wide.
Five minutes later, Green took a run at the Hull defence and was unfortunately caught, putting him off balance. A free-kick was awarded on the edge of the area.
Olomola took the free-kick a minute after, clearing the wall, but the ball cannoned off the top of the bar, with the keeper rooted to the spot. It proved the last chance of the game.
