The Iron's Under-18 side played their first football since early March in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Barton Town Old Boys on Saturday lunchtime.
After being level at half-time, the much more experienced Barton side emerged 3-0 victors in the second-half but it proved a very useful work-out for United.
"Considering we haven't played since early March, it was a good work-out for the players," said academy manager Tony Daws.
"Over the 90 minutes there were a lot of positives for us to be really pleased with, particularly in the first half and then also, as you would expect, a number of things that we need to work on and develop in the players."
IRON: Balme, Baker, Kemp, Trialist, Young, Lewis, Wilson, Gallimore, Franklin, Virgo, Wilkinson.
Crosher, Dawson, Jessop, Silva and two trialists also came on as substitutes at half-time.
