Lewis earns latest New Zealand U23s cap

10 September 2019

Midfielder Clayton Lewis earned his latest cap for New Zealand as he played the full 90 minutes for the Under-23s in their 1-1 draw against Australia in Campbelltown on Monday.

Lewis was also capped at the end of last week as the same squad took on the same opposition with the same result following. The 22-year-old netted the Kiwis’ goal on that occasion, timing a 71st minute free-kick to perfection as he got the All Whites on level terms.

The result means that defeat is yet to be suffered under the reign of head coach Des Buckingham as he looks to prepare his side for the looming Olympic Games qualifiers.
