James Perch will no longer be subjected to a three-match ban in the Leasing.com Trophy after an independent Regulatory Commission upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal.

The 33-year-old was sent off in stoppage time of the second half during the Iron’s 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town by referee Andy Haines, who had deemed a challenge on the nearside touchline to be serious foul play.

United manager Paul Hurst confirmed in his pre-Mansfield Town press conference that an appeal had been lodged with the FA and, shortly after, confirmation was received that the red card had been rescinded.

Perch will be unavailable for Saturday’s encounter at the One Call Stadium as he serves the final match of a three-game suspension for the red card he was shown away at Cambridge, but will then will be eligible to be selected across all competitions.
