SCENE-SETTER
The Under-23s play their first game for 10 days, with the last match coming away at Mansfield Town on Tuesday, December 10th, where United were beaten 2-1 in the Central League Cup, with Andy Dales on target.
Previously in the Premier League Cup, United's Under-23s were defeated 2-0 by West Bromwich Albion in October before drawing 3-3 with Newcastle United in November, in which George Miller notched a hat-trick.
With the first team in action away at Grimsby Town on Saturday, it is likely to be a young side that takes on the Tigers. The Under-18s' players will be available to call upon too, as they're not in action again now until after Christmas.
First team manager Paul Hurst confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday that attacker Jordan Hallam could play a part as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.
