The Cleveland-based official travels to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 18th game of the campaign and his fourth in Sky Bet League Two. Joyce is currently in his fifth season as an EFL match official.
His first game of the campaign was Ipswich Town's slender 1-0 away victory at Burton Albion on the opening day - a match in which he showed six yellow cards and one red. His latest encounter came on December 4th when he took charge of the Leasing.com Trophy match between Tranmere Rovers and Manchester United Under-21s. The match ended 3-2 to the home side at Prenton Park, with eight yellows and one red issued.
He's taken charge of the Iron on six occasions in total, most recently back in November 2018 when he oversaw United's elimination from what was then known as the Checkatrade Trophy. In the six previous games, he's shown 19 yellow cards and no reds.
Meanwhile, he's refereed Colchester United on six previous occasions too. His most recent U's encounter came back in March when he oversaw their 2-0 home defeat against Tranmere Rovers. In total, across the six games, he's shown 18 yellow cards and no reds.
In 2018-19, he took charge of 44 games, including back-to-back visits to Wembley, taking charge of the FA Vase Final and the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final. Last season, he issued 157 yellow cards and five reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 17 encounters, showing 72 yellows and three reds.
On Saturday, Joyce will be assisted by Matthew Jones and Geoffrey Liddle, while Graeme Fyvie has been appointed as the fourth official.
