Graham Salisbury will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away league clash against Oldham Athletic on Wednesday.
The Lancashire-based official will travel to Boundary Park for his 19th game of the campaign and sixth in Sky Bet League Two. The current term is Salisbury's 19th in the EFL.
His first game of the season was a Leasing.com Trophy affair between Rotherham United and Manchester United Under-21s in which the Red Devils won 2-0. In that game he showed four yellow cards.
His most recent encounter came on Saturday, December 21st when he oversaw Burton Albions' 3-1 home victory over Rochdale. There were no cards in the game.
He's taken charge of Scunthorpe matches on no fewer than 29 previous occasions ranging from the old Division Three, through to the Championship and cup competitions. His last encounter involving United came back in April at the Sands Venue Stadium. He showed two yellow cards in a 3-0 home loss to Burton Albion. In total, across the 29 games involving United, he's shown 95 yellow cards and five reds.
Salisbury has taken charge of 22 Oldham games over the 18 years with his most recent back in August. On that day, three yellow cards were shown in the Latics' goalless draw with Exeter City. In total, across the 22 games, he's shown 75 yellow cards and five reds.
He's refereed this corresponding fixture twice before, the last time being in November 2016 when the Iron won 1-0 at home courtesy of a Scott Wiseman volley, despite Kevin van Veen also netting earlier but it going unnoticed. The previous time was at Boundary Park when Lewis Alessandra scored a hat-trick for Oldham as they won 3-0 in October 2008.
In 2018-19 he took charge of 35 games, issuing 120 yellow cards and four reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 18 encounters, showing 66 yellows and one red card.
On Wednesday, he will be assisted by David Hunt and Matthew Parry, while Stephen Wade has been appointed as the fourth official.
