He joined on loan from Hull City in February 1980 and made just one appearance for the side, as a substitute in a 5-0 away defeat at Doncaster Rovers.
Skipper made over 300 appearances in two spells with the Tigers, aiding them to two promotions in his career.
He also played for Darlington, Oldham Athletic, Walsall, Wrexham and Wigan Athletic.
