Martin Coy to referee Portsmouth home clash

22 November 2018

Martin Coy will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Portsmouth.

The official will travel to Glanford Park for his 18th game of the campaign and his sixth in Sky Bet League One.

His first game of the campaign was Grimsby Town's emphatic opening day home defeat against Forest Green Rovers in which he showed two cautions. His most recent appointment came a week ago when he oversaw Mansfield Town's 1-0 home victory over Port Vale in which he showed seven yellow cards and one red.

He's taken charge of the Iron on two previous occasions, the most recent being earlier in the season when he showed three yellow cards and one red in the Checkatrade Trophy encounter against Lincoln City. James Wilson of the Imps received two of those cautions.

Meanwhile, he's refereed Portsmouth on one previous occasion - their 2-1 away defeat at Doncaster Rovers back in October 2017 when he issued three cautions and a red card for Pompey's Dion Donohue.

In 2017-18 - his debut campaign in the EFL - he took charge of 34 games, issuing 69 yellow cards and three reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 17 encounters, showing 41 yellows and two reds.

On Saturday, Coy will be assisted by Ian Dudley and David Plowright, while Duncan Street has been appointed as the fourth official.
