Scunthorpe United is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Barrie Betts, aged 86.
The defender signed for the club in August 1964 from Manchester City and would remain with the Iron for ten months until he departed to Lancaster City in June 1965.
Over that time, he would make seven league appearances and two league cup appearances.
The Barnsley-born defender started his career with his hometown club before moving to Manchester City via Stockport County.
He made 117 appearances for the Blues between 1960 and 1964, captaining the side during part of his spell there.
