Scunthorpe arrive into the game on the back of a 2-2 home draw in the first leg against the Millers, as the team came from behind twice to leave matters finely poised ahead of the clash at the New York Stadium in midweek.
Clarke spoke to iFollow Iron prior to the match, as he discussed the supporters, his own form and his views ahead of the clash with Paul Warne’s side.
ON THE SCUNTHORPE FANS…
JC: They’ve been amazing, home and away. It definitely helps build us up. You hear it and it gives you a boost, when you get into attacking areas you find an extra bit of adrenaline. Even in defensive areas, they still cheer and get behind us and it’s a huge help. I’m sure that will continue on Wednesday and we all can’t wait for the game.
ON SATURDAY’S GAME…
JC: The result was a decent one but personally I wasn’t too pleased (with myself). As a whole, I feel we can be better as well. At the end of the day, it’s a positive result and we have everything to play for. We’ve just got to go to their place now and put them under pressure. The main positive is we kept going and managed to carry on plugging away and get those equalisers twice. I feel at their place it’ll be a more open game and our quality will be better than it was on Saturday. I have every confidence we’ll be able to do it.
ON THE EXCITEMENT OF THE PLAY-OFFS…
JC: Obviously, you want to go up automatically but we play to be involved in moments like this. For us to be involved again at this late stage of the season shows the consistency and quality we have here at Scunthorpe. It’s definitely enjoyable and an accolade in itself but we want to go the whole way this time. It’s down to how we manage ourselves on and off the pitch, keeping our quality high and I think we’ve got that in abundance throughout the side.
ON FACING ROTHERHAM AT THE NEW YORK STADIUM…
JC: It’s a lovely stadium and I’ve only played there once before, which was this season. It will be a very good atmosphere and hopefully the pitch is really good too and we can go out and play good football.
