However, the 22-year-old knows Wigan will offer a tough test this weekend when United make the trip to DW Stadium.

Previewing that game on iFollow Iron, Burgess reflected on the recent form and offered his thoughts on how the side can get back to winning ways.

ON LAST SATURDAY’S LOSS…
CB: It was very frustrating and you get angry with it throughout the whole weekend. You think about how you could have done better and obviously we didn’t win. It is still in the back of our minds and hopefully we can put it right on Saturday.

ON HOW THAT GAME PANNED OUT…
CB: You are not going to be able to score every chance. We are disappointed at the back with conceding two goals, which is what we look at (as defenders). It was hard conceding the first goal because it flattens the mood a little bit. Even then we have got to be professional about it and pick ourselves up. For them to go and score another, we obviously didn’t do that well enough.

ON TRAINING THIS WEEK…
CB: Everyone has been at it. There was a reserve game on Monday and the lads played well in that. Training has been good and intense as usual. That is where we put our work in and hopefully that shows on Saturday.

ON WANTING TO IMPROVE THE IRON’S FORM…
CB: It will take just one good result and then we will be off on our way again. It is all in our hands at the moment, we are in a good position in the play-offs, so we need to put it right as soon as possible and go from there. If we can that first one out of the way, we will look at the next game after that and go again.

ON THE TEST WIGAN ATHLETIC WILL POSE…
CB: They look to control the play, have got some good players and they are good on the ball. They have a good passing game and that is the way they like to play. We will have to be at it so we can counteract that and play our own game to try and get the result. I think most games are tough ones, especially for some parts in the match, but this one will be a tough one for 90 minutes. We have to stay concentrated.

ON DEALING WITH THEIR ATTACKING QUALITY…
CB: You have to look at their little tricks and little qualities they have. As a whole, we need to play our own game and get back to how we win games. Hopefully, that will be a good stepping stone for us.

ON FACING TWO SIDES IN THE TOP THREE BACK-TO-BACK…
CB: If we can get good results there, it is definitely a good stepping stone. It will almost be like a double win where your confidence will be massively boosted from beating two of the top three teams.
