Rory Watson on getting 90 minutes against Forest

26 July 2018

Goalkeeper Rory Watson was pleased to get 90 minutes in the Iron’s 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest and is now looking forward to the Lincoln contest on Saturday.

Speaking to iFollow Iron about the Forest pre-season match, the 22-year-old said: “It was nice to get 90 minutes. It was a good test against a really good side because they had a lot of strength in depth.

“They like to play football, but they never really hurt us because I thought we played well. We needed that sort of test going into the season.

“The lads got a lot of fitness in, which is good because the season starts next week.”

The attention now turns to Lincoln City at the weekend and the goalkeeper knows what to expect from Danny Cowley’s side: “I have played against Lincoln before. They are a really good team, very direct, big and strong.

“It will be a different test from what we had against Forest, but we will have to stand up to it.”

With now just under a week before the 2018/19 campaign gets underway, Watson added: “I feel really good and I am just ready for the new season to start now.”
