Graham Salisbury will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Gillingham on Saturday.
The Lancashire-based official will travel to Glanford Park for his 18th game of the campaign and eighth in Sky Bet League One. The current campaign is Salisbury's 18th in the EFL.
His first game of the campaign was a League Two affair between Exeter City and Carlisle United in which the Grecians won 3-1. In that game he showed three yellow cards.
His most recent encounter came on Tuesday when he took charge of the Checkatrade Trophy second round tie between Sunderland and Notts County at the Stadium of Light. He showed four yellow cards in the 2-0 Black Cats win.
He's taken charge of Scunthorpe matches on no fewer than 27 previous occasions ranging from the old Division Three, through to the Championship and cup competitions. His last encounter involving United came at the tail end of last season when he oversaw the 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic where he showed just one yellow card. In 27 games refereeing the Iron, he's issued 89 yellow cards and five reds.
Salisbury has taken charge of 15 Gillingham games over the last 16 years with his most recent back in October. Six goals were shared equally between Doncaster Rovers and the Gills in a game where he issued five cautions. In total, he's shown 35 yellow cards and three red in the 15 games.
He's taken charge of this fixture once before - eleven years ago - when the Iron ran out 3-1 victors at Glanford Park. Richard Hinds put the Iron ahead before Matt Jarvis restored parity after half time. Ben Chorley was given a straight red card soon after for Gillingham for denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity, with David Mulligan netting the resultant free-kick. Ian Morris would seal the three points with the third in the last minute.
In 2017-18, he took charge of 37 games, issuing 146 yellow cards and 13 reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 17 encounters, showing 64 yellows and three red cards.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Gary Hilton and Paul Graham, while Wayne Grunnill has been appointed as the fourth official.
