Take the positives and move on

14 September 2017

Striker Lee Novak feels that a point might have been a fair result against Blackburn Rovers, following the Iron’s 1-0 defeat at Glanford Park.

Novak started his first game for the club since signing on transfer deadline day and came close to grabbing a first goal - his effort on 56 minutes was disallowed while the score was 0-0.

He gave his reaction of the game, reviewing his and the team’s performance to iFollow Iron.

ON THE 1-0 DEFEAT…
LN: I thought during the first-half we were a lot better and in the second-half we didn’t play as well, but overall a point would have probably been a fair result. We’ve had a couple of chances and one of the lads thought my goal was onside, so it’s disappointing and we’ll have to have a look back. We’ve got to take the positives for sure. I think Blackburn are the biggest side in the league. You can see that with the players they’ve got and the support they brought. We have got to take the positives and move onto Sunday now.

ON WANTING TO BOUNCE BACK ON SUNDAY…
LN: We will look where we can improve. I’m sure the gaffer will have a look and have a word in where we can improve and work on a few things before Doncaster. I think we have to take the positives – there is no point moping around. We have to do that and then hopefully build another run of results.

"Whoever plays, it’s their chance to stake their claim. Hopefully I staked my claim on Tuesday and I can get a run in the team."

ON STARTING HIS FIRST GAME…
LN: I feel good. It’s obviously disappointing not to come away with a win. I would have liked to have won the game on my first start and have got a goal, but it hasn’t happened, so we’ll hopefully win the next one on Sunday. We’ve got four great strikers here. Whoever plays, it’s their chance to stake their claim. Hopefully I staked my claim on Tuesday and I can get a run in the team.

ON LOOKING TO SCORE HIS FIRST GOAL FOR THE IRON…
LN: I’m obviously disappointed now that they’ve said the goal might have been onside and that could have been the game changer, but I’m a confident lad so I’m sure it will come on Sunday.
