Levi Sutton signs new contract

29 September 2017

The 20-year-old has played at right-back for United six times in League One so far this season and impressed enough to earn himself a new deal.

The academy product discussed the new deal, his performances so far and how the manager has inspired him in an interview with iFollow Iron

ON SIGNING THE NEW DEAL…
LS: I’m delighted to have signed for another two years with Scunthorpe. I’ve been here for a very long time now, so to have played in a few of the games towards the start of the season and get to sign a new deal has made me very happy.

ON MAKING AN IMPRESSION…
LS: I think I played well in the games (so far this season). Therefore, for them to show their faith in me and offer me a new deal it makes me want to show them that I can play and that their faith was well placed.

ON THE LENGTH OF HIS NEW CONTRACT…
LS: They say a lot of young players fall out of the game, so it’s great for me to have my future secured here. I just want to play as many games as I can. The team are doing well, and hopefully I will get back into it and do well myself.

ON GETTING HIS CHANCE…
LS: There’s no better feeling than to be playing, so to be in a team that is keeping clean sheets and winning games is where I want to be. Hopefully, during the two years that I am signed to Scunthorpe, I can continue to do that.

ON THE TEAM’S PERFORMANCE SO FAR THIS SEASON…
LS: I think we all knew that this was going to happen. We have a good manager and squad here so I think that it was inevitable that it would be like this.

ON THE MANAGER’S INFLUENCE OVER HIS POSITIONAL DIVERSITY…
LS: When I first came here I was a central midfield player. The transition over to the right-back position has been easy because the manager has done it and helped me to do it. He has helped me out and I want to repay the favour for starting me.

ON THE ROUTE FOR YOUNG PLAYERS AT THE CLUB…
LS: Lewis (Butroid) is doing really well and I’m buzzing for him. I think that if any of the young lads are good enough to play then the manager will play them.

ON HIS PERSONAL AIMS…
LS: I just want to get back into the team and stay in it as well. I want to play as many games as I can.
