The SUFC Trust has welcomed 19 new Futsal scholars ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Daniel Buttrick, Joshua Dowson, George Drewery, Ryan Farnham, Kieran Goulding, Corey Harkins, Jake Harris, Jonty Jackson, Rio Nicholson, Kurt Robinson, William Robinson (not pictured), Adam Rutter, Ashley Simpson, Morgan Smith, Jordan Spencer, Ollie Steele, Tom Sturman, Sam Warne and Jack Webster all begin their two-year diploma with the club in association with North Lindsey College and EFL Trust.
Over the course of the two-years, the scholars will study for a NCFE Level Three Extended Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) with Futsal (worth up to three A-Levels), while also representing the club in the EFL Trust Futsal League, along with other cup competitions throughout the course of the season.
The SUFC Trust offer a number of courses and opportunities to learn with Scunthorpe United CSET including a "Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development" and "BSc Football Coaching, Development and Administration".
In particular, the Futsal Scholarship has been a very successful one both on and off the pitch, with a high level of success in students attaining the NCFE diploma, while the teams have also proved to do well in the EFL Trust Futsal Leagues and past cup competitions, including a trip to the Olympic Park's Copperbox Arena a couple of seasons ago.
The third aspect to the course, work experience in the industry, has also seen a number of former scholars progress to work within sport, while the diploma has also opened the door to various university courses for others.
Futsal Scholarship Manager Gav Cooper said: "We are delighted to welcome our new scholars onto our course for the next two years. There'll be a lot of hard work to put in between now and the end of the diploma, but we're hoping they'll both enjoy it and develop throughout and go onto have successful careers within the industry or use the qualification to progress onto the next step of their lives.
"We've had a great amount of success on the course in recent years and it's gone from strength-to-strength in terms of interest. This season we are delighted to have striker Kevin van Veen on board as the Futsal Scholarship Ambassador. Kevin has a real interest in Futsal and has played the game himself, so we're looking forward to having him get involved and help in any way he can."
