Dutchman Kevin van Veen sat down with our programme team to pick out his three best career strikes, from an already impressive catalogue.
FC Oss 3-2 De Graafschap - 30th August 2014
KVV: I’m sure people in England have seen it, because it’s in the clips of my goals in Holland. There was a long ball from the centre-back, which went over my head, but I got a touch on it, let it bounce and smashed it into the top right hand corner of the goal. It was a big goal in that game as well, because it put us 3-2 ahead and it turned out to be the winner.
Oldham Athletic 2-4 Scunthorpe United - 10th October 2015
KVV: Oldham was something special because it was a long run where I beat four people, and also nutmegged a defender too. I don’t tend to panic much in front of goal and I always feel I can finish in different ways, so either with my left or right, or like on this occasion, a dink. I think the ‘keeper gambled that I was going to put the ball to the left or the right, but he went down and I chipped it over him. I was really happy with it because it made sure of the 4-2 win for us. It was a good feeling for me that it won goal of the season too.
Fleetwood Town 2-2 Scunthorpe United - 13th August 2016
KVV: That one was an absolute rocket into the top corner. At that moment I had the feeling that I could do something special, and I wasn’t playing that well in the game. However, I got the ball and just whacked it into the top corner. When I received the ball, I already imagined it in my mind going in the back of the net, and when I hit it I had the feeling. That was a great time to score, because it made the game 2-2 and kept us up the top end of the table.
