Clarke: This year has been even tougher

18 July 2017

Jordan Clarke says the work being undertaken at the club’s Austrian training camp this year is even tougher than 12 months ago.

Scunthorpe got off to a great start last season, defeating Bristol Rovers 3-1 at Glanford Park, and they’re hoping for similar against AFC Wimbledon this term as they look to compete at the top end of League One once again.

As his side gear up for a friendly against SK Strobl on Tuesday, iFollow Iron caught up with Clarke on the third full day of the training camp.

ON OBERTRAUN SO FAR…
JC: It’s gone really well and it’s been very tough. We were expecting rain this whole week but it’s been blazing hot. The football has been going well. The fitness is coming along too. It’s not easy but you do feel yourself getting fitter every day. This is my third time here (once with a previous club). Last year was tough but it was enjoyable. This year it’s enjoyable but it’s even tougher! There’s no point in changing something that’s not broken. Hopefully we can continue our fitness here and bring it back to Scunthorpe.

AHEAD OF THE SK STROBL FRIENDLY…
JC: The game later gives us a chance to try new things and get some match fitness into us again. It’s obviously a slight disadvantage for both teams because we don’t know each other, but it’s a good chance to express ourselves and go into the games with no fear.

ON HIS OWN FITNESS…
JC: I’m feeling alright. Obviously I have aches and pains but so does everyone.

ON THE REWARDS…
JC: If we can start with a win, and anything like last season, then it will be a good positive start for us and the fans.
