Fully focused on Bolton

6 April 2017

United ‘keeper Joe Anyon insists the whole squad have placed their full attention on looking ahead to Saturday’s home clash with Bolton Wanderers.

Anyon and his Iron team-mates were beaten at Millwall last time out, but the 30-year-old says now is not the time to dwell on what has gone before.

Speaking to The Iron PlayerHD, Anyon said: "We’ve put Saturday behind us now, and we’re focusing on Bolton.

“Training has been good, the lads are working hard to put Saturday’s result to bed, and what a good game it is to do that in.

“Every game is a big game, but we take each one on it’s merit. Saturday is a big game, and hopefully we can take three points.

“Over the weekend you’re disappointed, but you come in on Monday and it’s gone - we’ve got down to work and moved on.

“We haven’t got time to dwell on things, we need to stay focused on the goal in hand and really push on.”

Analysing this weekend’s opponents, Anyon is confident of obtaining a positive result, given the recent showings at Glanford Park.

“Hopefully we can raise our game against them and put in a performance,” he declared.

“You saw the Bradford game here a couple of weeks ago, which was a great win. If we can mimic something like that then it’ll be great.

“Also we’re at home, so with the fans behind us we should be fine.

“When we went to their place we made a good count of ourselves, and we were unlucky. If we get the rub of the green here and play well then we’ve a good chance of winning.”

He admits though that no game from now until the end of the campaign will be a foregone conclusion, with every team in their own right fighting for points.

Anyon eluded to the fact however that it’s no different for Scunthorpe and, with just five fixtures left, maximum points are most certainly a priority.

“When you get to this stage of the season it’s dog eat dog and every game is an FA Cup final - there’s always something on it,” Anyon explained.

“We’re playing teams that need points, so we need to make sure that we concentrate on ourselves, not worry about things around us and make sure we’re right.”
